Knitting Classes at The Shop
I`m so excited to be leading my first knitting classes!!
I get asked if I teach classes a lot, and I've always been nervous to. But following a few New Years resolutions, I've designed two knitting classes to take place in March: Knitting 101, and Learn to Cable!
Both classes will be held at The Shop, an awesome ceramic and woodworking studio and maker space at 1139 College St W.
Thursday, March 24, 6:30-8:30
$65-
Learn the very basics and knit a chic headband perfect for our Toronto winters. We'll be working with big needles and a super chunky Merino wool, so you'll see your progress quickly in large, satisfying stitches.
This course would be great for someone who's never held a set of needles, a beginner, or someone who is looking to refresh what they learned back in Home Ec. We'll go over English style casting on, binding off, and the knit stitch, and you'll get a hand-illustrated Knitting 101 guide to take home to help you practice your new skills.
The course includes:
- a pair of bamboo knitting needles
- an original headband pattern
- a ball of Merino wool large enough to complete your headband
- a hand-illustrated Knitting 101 guide

Thursday, March 31, 6:30-8:30
$65-
Don't be afraid of the cable stitch- it's easier than it looks!
In this class you'll learn the principles of cable knitting that will allow you to tackle even the most intimidating looking cabled pattern. We'll start by knitting a basic cable together, and move on to a swatch covering three types of cable stitches. You'll learn how these three basic styles form the foundation of an infinite variety of cables and a new found confidence to pick up that Aran cable sweater pattern you've been ogling.
The course includes:
- a pair of bamboo knitting needles
- a cabling needle
- an cable swatch pattern
- a mini cabling history and how-to guide
- a ball of pure wool large enough yarn to finish your cabled swatch
No cabling experience necessary, but please be familiar with knitting and purling.
Sign up here.
